Hi folks, I have a regular Prius 2011, and PIP 2012. I ordered the cargo tray for my PIP 2012. Since 2 cars look identical. I ask the shop if I can use the cargo tray in my regular Prius 2011 too. They said it won't fit. Do you believe it? Toyota Prius Plug-in Accessories Thanks in advance!
From all I have read, the rear compartments are not identical. They are close, but not the same. It should still fit, just may not be as snug as in the PiP.
When I ordered the rear cargo liner for my 2012 Prius Five- Husky sent me the mat for the PIP by mistake. It did fit, but it was was very snug- I sent it back, they replaced it with the correct cargo liner for the regular 2012 Prius- it was a much better fit. The PIP liner will fit in the regular Prius-but it's a very tight fit.
I got my cargo mat. Yes, indeed, the mat for 2012 PIP won't totally fit in the 2011 regular Prius. I am very surprised Toyota will have such a minor difference on PIP and regular Prius. Thanks all of your inputs!
EDITED: It's the Prius Cargo Organizer that won't fit a Plug-in Prius. The Organizer is a lightly carpeted tray which fits above the spare tire and below the lightly carpeted panel for hidden storage in the Prius. There's no spare tire compartment in the Plug-in Prius for this cool tray. I gave mine away at our Prius meetup. Sorry for any confusion I caused.
Eh? The "cargo tray" is an all-weather mat which has a raised lip going all the way around. That's why they call it a tray. It's completely above the floor, so the under-floor storage (or lack thereof) is irrelevant. Here's a photo http://touch.toyota.com/img/vehicles/2012/prius-plug-in/accessories/Cargo-Tray-405x225.jpg
I would go with an aftermarket one. Especailly one that has a lip to keep things contained. I have a WeatherTech cargo liner from my 2012 regular Prius in my PIP. It fits in there, but kinda snug. Oh well, it works and once it is in place I don't move it around. Better than buying another one.
Thanks for the advice. I think the lip would help me contain dirt, liquids, etc. I think I will go with the Husky since I decided to get the Husky floor mats.
The OEM Toyota cargo tray (as they call the all-weather trunk mat) DOES have a lip as well. However, this lip makes it near-impossible to lift the tray easily, so you can basically forget about accessing the under-floor storage if you get it. After pointers by some of the other forum members, I think I'm going to sell my carpet and all-weather cargo mat and get a canvasback instead, which will also cover the seat backs.
I like the canvasback concept since I plan on putting in items that require folding the rear seats. I think I am gonna get the Husky since it is half the price and I do need the lip, which the canvasback does not have (according to the pictures).
I didn't know they redesigned the cargo mat for the PIP. I thought they were still making the 2 piece garbage they made for the regular Prius. The OEM one doesn't look bad, there is a lip. I might have gotten that if I didn't already have the WeatherTech cargo liner previously.
I tried doing a search on ebay about this canvas back cover and came up empty. A link would be greatly appreciated!
