Dreaded flat tire and I dont like it a bit :(

    I just purchased a new wheel. I have 4 summer tires and 4 winter tires. One of my summer tires is currently mounted on the new wheel, which I store behind the passenger seat. I put it in a large plastic bag to keep things clean. And, I have AAA, so I'm done worrying about this issue.

    I bought the same OEM tire that came with the car ($109) and the lightest weight rim ($106) from Tirerack. Came mounted and balanced for free. I can drive on this as long as I want and no question of mismatches with the existing tires. Of course it hogs the luggage area but there's still plenty of room for groceries.

    For one reason or other, I kept postponing the purchase, I want to finalize this before the end of this year. I see a 2006 corolla spare for $75 locally and $130 (shipped) for 2010-2011 prius spare. Price difference is almost double. So, any downside in going for older one?

    They are different sizes. The 06 Corolla spare being smaller. I have no idea why. Stock tire size is the same 195/65-15 on both vehicles. Look for a 2009 and up Corolla spare, exactly the same size as a 2010-2012 Prius spare but way more numerous.

    I tried to buy from this guy
    Spare Tire 5x100 Bolt Pattern
    But we couldn't agree on time and place. I talked him down to $35. You're near Hayward right?

    Sucks, He's had that post since Thanksgiving. I started looking when you first opened this thread. He's reposted it every week since then. He wants me to meet him at 2PM during the day and I can't do that because Hayward is midway 25 miles from work and home for me. I can borrow my dad's 2006 Corolla spare in a pinch but I don't like how it's smaller than a Gen3 Prius spares. I've got time to keep looking.
    Here's a full size Prius wheel for $100: I think I can talk him down to $75 ;)

    I had a flat with my PiP, and like others, the fix-a-flat failed miserably.

    However, Toyota took good care of me; the tow truck arrived on time and was the proper type; he loaded my car in no time, got me to the Toyota dealership, where I ended up having to buy a new tire.

    Another sour note: the replacement goop is about $150.

    i think i'd go get the slime that's $15 on amazon instead. won't destroy your TPMS sensor either.
