Looking on the internet I found some aftermarket rear mirrors for my Prius C, this one brought my attention: This is a 4.3" mirror that include GPS, Homelink, rear view camera at least, probably can include blutooth for calls and txt, sensors, auto dimming, DVR, etc. What do you think?? Anyone here about this before?
Just get a new head unit if you want those features...It wouldnt be worth having such a small mirror in my opinion. you would also have to run wiring to install that mirror and that would just be a hassle.
the problem is that when a faceplate is available to cover the gap for aftermarket head unit stereos, this could be an option, also in te page is a explanation between head units vs rear mirrors w/ features in form of visuallizing and preventing accidents, interresting poing.
I had a backup camera screen incorporated into a rear-view mirror in my Corolla. When the display was off, it was a full mirror. When the screen was on, it appeared through the silvering of the mirror; it worked great. It was good for backing up, but I wouldn't want my GPS screen up there. Besides, there are plenty of better places in the Prius to mount a GPS unit.
i have the Gentex auto dimming rearview mirror with rear camera display, compass and temperature. It is very good. the quality of the screen and the mirror are great.
@ROLOPR What model did you buy? Also did it require any special adapter to mount on the rearview mirror tombstone on the windsheild? Let me know. I'm looking at this one: VIZUALOGIC CM043RA – Dynamic Autosound
