Just cking..if I am in a traffic jam..I notice after awhile there is a shift in the engine and I don't get good mileqage anymore until I am out of traffic..what gives??
The ICE (ie the gas engine) is started to charge the traction battery when the battery charge gets below a set level. The engine then runs at a higher speed until the battery charge level is increased. This happens because you were probably creeping along using only the battery when stuck in traffic.
Or...it's cold outside and the engine turned on to provide you with heat. I wish you'd list where you live.
