New owner from S.Florida intro

    Hi. I live in south Florida. This is my first Prius. Had it for 3 days. Its Blizzard white, because that was the least hot color in the sun. It is very attractive otherwise. Its a base, or 2, trim. I do not plan on adding any performance or cosmetic mods except for applying my own aluminum badges, that rode around with me on my Honda Fit for a few trips to NH. I made these just for the Fit but they look OK on the Prius, too. And also to replace the interior lights with LED bulbs. Looking forward to making some new friends, learning more about this car and sharing experiences with other drivers.

    Welcome from the Sunny AZ. I have the same model2 with Blizzard Pearl. Hope you have the window tint to keep the heat down. After waxing and ScotchGuard, I inflated my tires to 42/40 and added a ScanGuageII for increased mileage. The rest is easy. The only mod I plan to did was ripping out the stereo and installing an Alpine unit.

    We live in Florida as well..Purchased our Prius in 2011, its grey(wanted white, but was not available at the dealership), and, we to travel to N.H.(snowbirds)...We used to own a SUV(6 cyclinder)..it cost us about $400. to travel to N.H...with the Prius, its about $120(one way)...

    We have been extremely satisfied with this prius over-all...except for the following:

    Just a heads-up if you should ever have to change a flat on your Prius..

    > This morning, I had a front tire flat and was lucky that my car was still in the garage...So, I pulled out may owners manual and easily located the spare & tire changing tools...To start with, the jack is your typical scissor crank type and the lug wrench is "L" shape... The manual states to place the scissor jack on the frame about a foot & half back of the wheel well (front tires only) and theirs a slot on the top of the jack that slips onto the frame...So far, no problem...I tried to remove the hub cap, but because the tire was completely flat, I had to jack the car to a point where the tire was off the garage floor...Hub cap removed easily...NOW, here's where the problem started..because the tire was flat, I had a hard time cranking the jack due to the weight of the front end(motor etc...), and because the crank handle they supply is to short, and because the car is much lower to the ground/floor surface, it made the initial cranking difficult..After about 10 min of cranking and scraping my knuckles on the garage floor, I finally got the tire off the garage floor..Taking off a rear tire should be easier..
