No, I purchased it before Nov 5th and the rebate was 3.5K then.

I live in NY and just leased my first Prius. It is a silver base plug in with mats. The MSRP was 33025. There were two promotions going on: 4000 rebate plus another 2000 plus the first lease payment (259) from the "Toyota Loves Nurses" program. The final numbers were 1635 out of pocket (which was 399 plus taxes and registration), 35 payments of 259 per month, with a buyout price of 17280 at the end of 3 years. It is a 3 year, 36000 mile lease. We are very excited about the car and the deal. Only about 75 miles so far. We love the plug in!!!

Wait, what's wrong with Oregon? Like I said, VA, NH, and DE are the only non-CARB sale states. So OR is a CARB state :) Also that's where I bought my car.

Thanks for all the info everyone. I asked my dealer to look at the window sticker and he said it showed the longer CA warranty. I'll be heading there tomorrow so I'll confirm it in person. If this works, I hope that others can get this deal too.

Yes Lenso I thought you bought in OR. I am thinking that is NOT a CARB state. Correct me if wrong.
But Henry's question to you would be: did you get the CA $1500 in that case?
My question would be do you have CARB warranty (150k mile on HV batt)?

Also you keep saying my fair state VA is not CARB but the site I saw suggested north half of VA is CARB (which is the likely spot an out-of-stater would go for a PiP) so I am not ready to concede that point pending further research.

Lol see Price Paid on PIP? | Page 18 | PriusChat
It is a CARB state. The entire west coast, including AZ, are CARB.
I've submitted my rebate. Haven't received the check. Should probably drop them a line since it's been over a month I think.
EDIT: apparently I'm getting old, as I didn't mail my paperwork until about 11/4. But I sent them an email anyway to confirm the status of my rebate.

I'm still looking for a PIP from out of state. Any suggestions for good dealers? I was about to buy from Boch Toyota and the sales said its their policy that I had to fly in from CA to NY to do paperworks there and I said no.

I just drove one home; the standard PIP. I got $4,000 off, plus $500 as a previous Prius owner, then the $2,500 federal tax rebate (that's all set to go in Turbo Tax, when I file); for a total discount of $7,000.

    That's odd. Why NY?

So no additional markdowns from MSRP?

I worked with Romano Toyota in Syracuse, NY. Did all paperwork via fed ex. One of our posters has offered to pick anybody buying in Syracuse and take them to one of two local dealers.

What's the final price after all rebates, taxes, registration, airfare, etc. for a PiP from out of state? I'm wondering how one could be so much less than the $27,100 I paid at a dealer near my house that it's worth the airfare and travel expenses.

What does your $27,100 price include? From your previous post, it seems like you paid 28,790 after all fees, taxes, rebates and incentives.

Consult this spreadsheet: Welcome to Google Docs
People back east are buying these cars for 27k BEFORE the CVRP and IRS rebates.
Also, the cheapest price I'm seeing in CA is $28768. Did you ever post your numbers here? There's one other purchase for almost the same price; everyone else seems to have paid around $30k for their car (8 cars total).
Taxes are irrelevant because they are determined by the city of residence. If you're paying less because you live in a city with a low sales tax, that doesn't really help other buyers unless they plan on moving next door.

My price before rebates, taxes, and registration was $29,242, which makes $25,242 after tax rebates. Can you get the California CVP rebate if you buy out of state? Even if so, it seems like airfare, lodging, traveling back, and whatever vacation time required from work would pretty much wipe out that $1,800 in savings.

I had posted my price, but the dealer amended the contract after I received an email from another salesman at the same dealer quoting a lower price. That salesman was following up on a prior conversation and didn't know I was actually at his dealership buying the car when he emailed the quote.

Ah, well there you go. Your price wasn't 27, it was 29,242. That's a 2k difference. You also save about $200 in lower sales taxes. Only one person so far has actually driven the car back to CA. Most people doing this are still east of the Mississippi. Some folks are getting their cars shipped, which brings your net savings to about $1500, which is still nothing to sneeze at.
Yes, you still get the rebate. I should be getting it soon.

So i purchased the car today. John Barker at DCH New Brunswick helped me while I was there. I was in New York for work, so it was an hour by train to get to the dealer. Now I just have to arrange for shipping to California.

I checked the carb sticker under the hood and although it does not have the actual words "50 state legal", it does say. "California: AT PZEV PC"

I also looked in the warranty book and it states specifically that there is a California Emissions Control Warranty and the following state have this warranty. AZ, CA, CN, MN, MD, MA, NJ, NY, OR, RI, VT.

Soo it looks like us Californians should be fine with the HOV sticker and registration.

    My final price...

    MSRP $32,985 (Base plus mats)
    Final Price $31,000
    Doc Fee $299
Out of State Reg $115 (this was told was needed for thrid party to handle the out of state plates)
    Shipping $1000 (NJ to CA)
    TFS Rebate -$4000
    CA Rebate -$1500
    Federal Rebate -$2500

Total 24,414 not including tax and title

    After cali taxes and registration it was 30,429.50 - 4000(gov rebates) = 26,429 + 1000 shipping = 27,429 (my final price)

Anyways, wish me luck with shipping.

JohnBarker (609-709-9646) was great, he picked me up and dropped me off at the nearest train station. The finance guy Oscar offered all the warranty and gap etc... but did not pressure me at all. All in all a crazy process, but it pays off since I was 1 day away from buying at the local dealers for $31,788. I think there may be better prices around, but I think this was very fair and I called quite a few dealers. i also got the color I wanted.

Sorry, forgot to mention, .. Thanks all those that gave advice and for starting this thread. I was litterally planning on buying the car last monday and the thread helped me figure out all the details.

I'm looking to save about $2,500 from before. So... thanks everyone!

The doc fee is kind of high and the out of state fee is totally bogus, but it's still a pretty good deal, so congrats! Enjoy the car!
