we parked the V in the garage at 5 pm, and at 11pm went out into the garage for something, and heard a buzzing, but had a hard time trying to locate the noise. it seemed to be coming from the V. so i opened the drivers door , and after a couple seconds it stopped. then i closed the door and it started again. i opened it a second time it stopped again, after i closed it, it didn't start buzzing again ??? does this happen to other peoples prius's
Not happening on ours, but we always lock the doors (condo underground parking). Maybe it's telling you that the doors aren't locked?
It could be this perhaps.. "The little whirring noise you hear coming out of the hood when you first touch the driver's door handle is the brake fluid pump. Because it's electric, it has to pressurize itself before you get in and step on the brake." Read more: A few "v" facts | PriusChat
NO, NO, IT'S NOT COMING FROM UNDER THE HOOD. IT IS NOT A NOTIFICATION BUZZING, AND I NEVER LOCK MY DOORS IN THE GARAGE. I'VE HAD THE CAR 6 MONTHS , AND THIS IS THE FIRST IME IT'S HAPPENED. IT IS A FAINT BUZZING. IT IS COMING FROM THE REAR PART OF THE VEHICLE AS FAR AS I CAN DETERMINE. ALSO THE KEY WAS NOT ON MY PERSON, AND I NEVER TOUCHED THE CAR.
I had to dig for this because for some reason it's not listed in the section of the manual that describes the unusual sounds that are unique to the hybrid system, but check this out on page 20:
I have heard as well, long after the car has been parked in the garage. Just chalked it up to some need of the hybrid system.
