I have a tacoma that is all lifted and stuff so, and gets horrid gas mielage, so yesterday I bought a 2009 prius and guess what. The gas guage doesn't work.. it is a certified used car, but as far as i see the dealer wont do anything about it. Anybody know what I can do?
Not sure if I understand your problem totally but here goes. Please post more details on what is not working and what do you mean by 'not working'. If you have a full gas tank, it takes at least about 100 miles of driving for the gas gauge to move (ie one bar goes off). Also, if it is a Certified Pre-Owned vehicle, you can take it back to the dealer for repair or return. There is always some warranty on CPO vehicles.
How much gas did it take? You may have to reset the gauge if it is stuck. I believe there are many threads about this. Here is one I found. [KB] How to Reset Gas Gauge | PriusChat
What do you mean the dealer won't do anything about it? What did they tell you? If it's CPO they should fix this, as far as I understand.
I'll bet it's not broke - that gen Prius has some precious peculiarities - one of them is if you try to top off a tank when it has, say a half tank or better, it may not register full. Solution: run down the tank until you have no more than 3 "pips" then fill it - I'll bet it'll act "normal" then. Great car! Welcome to PC. BlackBerry 9930 ?
For what its worth, a Scan Guage can get you your Fuel Guage information. Toyota Specific : Linear Logic : Home of the ScanGauge
yep that was it I had to run more fuel out of it and fill it up slower and now it works fine thanks.. 850 miles on 16 gal of fuel. that would have been over 50 gal in my truck
