Per devprius (post#25), you need to regen 1.5 miles to get back into EV mode.

You can definatly get EV back. Like they said you need a big hill has you have to get over 1.5 miles to get EV mode back. You can still the "golf cart" mode ev if you don't get the full EV mode. This is where the PiP is better then the standard Prius, you can charge up much more. There are times when the standard Prius is full and you waste rengen or when the ICE is running and it is not charging.

Big hill gained ~4 miles back:

I go into EV mode at .9 miles of EV range almost every day on my was back from work. The hill I drive down gives me between .9 and 1.3 miles of EV range and I can always switch to EV as soon as the battery display changes from HEV to EV.
