The iPhone 4 uses a micro-sim. Not sure about your RAZR.

Re: Hardware that Works with Prius - LG VX5600 Accolade

I've been using the very basic feature phone LG VX5600 Accolade for 6 months or so and it works well with my 05 Prius. Connection is quick and reliable. It allows upload of all selected entries from phone book. It connects and disconnects gracefully when moving unit to and from the car.

This phone does not ring through the car speakers, but they do go silent so you can hear the unit ring. It does not allow transfer of a complete phone book unless you go through and select all records, one at a time. But once you select all the records you want, transfer goes well.

Now I'm changing service providers, so I'm starting a search for a new basic feature phone that functions well in the areas I've mentioned, but I'll start a new thread for that...

AT&T rep (I have AT&T now with my RAZR) said they trim the RAZR sim card and it fits just fine in the Iphone. She has done it a number of times and it works....anybody else try this. I could always return the Iphone if I got one and couldn't pair it up.

My Android MB860 (AT&T) works well with my 2007 Prius. All contacts uploaded at one time (when I finally figured out how to do it). Now if there were just a way to allow Phone Book access via the touchscreen while motivating down the road. I find it absurd that this is a limited function since it only makes me use the phone itself to make a call that isn't on speed dial, and that makes me even more unsafe while driving. I could of course, voice command the actual number to dial but who has numbers written down any more?:)

I've been wondering how to do this myself... So how do you upload contacts to the Prius (I have a 2007 model myself). My phone is a Samsung Galaxy Nexus if it matters.

This works for stock Android 4.1.4 on my Samsung Galaxy S Relay. Your mileage may vary.

    - Go to the Prius Phonebook and select "Transfer"

    - On your Android phone:
    • Go to your contacts list
    • Touch "menu"
    • Touch "Import/Export"
    • Touch "Send namecard via"
    • (Your phone will display your contacts list with checkboxes)
    • Touch "Select All" at the top of the list
    • Touch "Done" at the upper right of the screen
    • Touch "Bluetooth" on the "Complete action using" screen
    • Touch the Prius's bluetooth connection in the "Available devices" list
Depending on the size of your phone book it may take a while to complete the transfer. There doesn't seem to be any kind of progress indicator on either side, so you have to take it on faith that it's working. When it's done, the MFD will display, "Transfer complete."

Got 05 new. First phone had trouble connecting and staying connected. Dealer said I'd have to contact NipponDenso directly for help. No luck. 3 subsequent android phones have the same prob, tho the phones work as expected with my 07. It's evidently the 05s prob. Anybody have similar experiences, and any luck getting it fixed?

Prius 2008 Gen 2 Touring with JBL Sound System (AUX input) Amazon Echo Dot via WiFi

Long time lurker. First post under hardware that works with Gen2 Prius. Hopefully filed correctly.

So as of this writing, Amazon is taking a while to get a good user-installable Alexa device for the car. So, I've tested a few different setups using WiFi and an Echo Dot installed in the car. Right now, it's wired into the AUX input, but I could direct wire it and mount the Echo in a nicer place when the design is finalized. But for now, after a year and more of testing, it works well.

    Working:
    • Voice control with Alexa
    • Amazon Music, Podcasts, Stitcher and iHeart Radio
    • Audible and Alexa Enabled Kindle Books
    • Drop In, Notifications, Radio, Announcements, most skills

    Not Working:
    • Location-based services, Alexa thinks you're stationary, No GPS
    • On Steering Wheel control of songs, podcasts
    • Music Control from the Prius Screen

    Components:
    • Amazon Echo Dot (2nd Gen tested, 3rd Gen should work, not tested), Amazon Input (not tested)
    • USB Power Cable for Echo Dot (USB A to Micro B)
    • WiFi Hotspot (Either use your Phone Hotspot or get an OBD2 Hotspot)
    • 3.5 mm male to male stereo audio cable
    • Ground Loop Isolator:
    • 12V to USB 2.1A or better adapter.
    • Laptop (for programming and getting the Echo initially connected)

    Instructions:
    1. Use the 12V to USB adapter and the USB power cable to provide power to the Echo Dot.
    2. Provide a source for mobile WiFi. I had been using my phone's mobile hotspot, but that got annoying having to turn it on manually every time I started the car. So I got the T-Mobile SyncUp Drive which gives you OBD2 data, Location Monitoring, Start/Stop/Disturbance Alerts and Mobile WiFi). Now I don't have to press anything and Alexa just connects automatically. (Another alternative is to use the Automate app in android. When it senses the Car's bluetooth, enable WiFi hotspot.)
    3. Initialize the Echo Dot with the Mobile WiFi. Use a Laptop (more reliable than a browser on the phone) to go through the WiFi setup to connect the Echo Dot with the Mobile Wifi. This took a bit of doing, but after a few tries and different browsers, I got the laptop and the Echo Dot to connect with the Hotspot on my phone (and eventually the T-Mobile SyncUp Drive). Just FYI, if you're trying to use your mobile phone as the hotspot AND use the phone to set up your Echo Dot, it will not work since you have to change WiFi networks. Having a laptop is very helpful for this step. Another phone could be used in a pinch. Probably the hardest step, but the results are well worth the effort.
    4. Wire the audio:
      1. Attach the 3.5 mm audio cable to the Echo Dot.
      2. Attach the other end of the 3.5 mm audio cable to the Ground Loop Isolator (to help remove car electrical noise and improve audio quality).
      3. Attach the Ground Loop Isolator to the AUX input of the car.
      4. As another alternative. For Gen3 Prius owners or owners with new stereos that suppor the A2DP Bluetooth Protocol, you can skill the wiring of the audio. As an added bonus, you can then use the Steering Wheel to control songs. So far this has been tested with a 2010 Gen3 Prius with somewhat interesting results. The control isn't reliable, but works most of the time. It's better to just control things with voice commands anyway.
    5. Test.
    6. Smile.
Final Thoughts: This setup should work on any car with 12V cigarette lighter outputs and AUX input for the audio. More modern USB ports on the newer cars should work as long as they supply 2.1A. At 1.0 A the USB output isn't really reliable enough to power the Echo Dot and other peripherals like a phone. Having more than 2.1A on each port is recommended for modern phones and devices anyway. Good luck!

Pictures to come, if there are requests.Links Removed due to first post.

Note: This is not an endorsement of any of the products or companies above. It just happens to be a configuration that I've gotten to work.

Just bought a 08 Prius with the factory Navi and JBL. Has anyone tried the Vais Technology SL3sat-T adapter on a second gen Prius?

Magic Audio separation and amazing clarity, without head unit changeout.
Plug and play...Positively works in 08 with JBL, 6 CD changer and my 6s iPhone.
Bought used worth every penny, iStreamer by HRT. Hirestech-com
Install pdf on their website highresolutiontechnologies-support
Needed a Dual RCA female to male 3.5mm mini, and lightning adaptor.
Still have some quiet time static, looking at capacitor for power supply.
Or as i just noted, a ground loop isolator...
