Did 5000 miles service at local dealer. (tons of traveling)
Dealer I purchased from distance away + bridge (toll), hence local dealer
Requested 37 front 35 back for tire pressure.
Once I arrived home, I checked the PSI, read 42~44.
Spoke with service dept., was informed PSI will be higher due to tires being heated.
Went outside after 5hours of not driving, checked again. Still 42~44.
I don't even know if they indeed rotated tires.

Will not go back to them, looking for honest dealer to get service from around Long Island / NYC.
I travel to queens/brooklyn often as well.

Did you have the Tire Pressure 44 Front / 42 Rear before the service?
They may have swapped front to rear and rear to front and NOT check the pressure, like you requested.

I don't trust ANY mechanics, since they all use the crappy pencil tire pressure gauges.
I have a 2" analog gauge and a digital gauge that I compare to each other the next morning.
I use my wife's GM air compressor to pump them up.

You got the details of the gauges? I'm thinking of getting them for myself:D

i use slime gauge, seems to be accurate.
i put air into the tires about a week ago when it was getting colder.
... no way to tell if they even rotated the tires. the joy of long island service dept. hoping there is a decent one around.

last time i had my tires rotated i checked for "characteristic" markings on the front tires to verify that they moved them back. you could do something as simple as sticking a piece of magic tape on the front wheels.

I think going to a service center always comes down to the mechanic working on your car. Some guys are clearly better and more conscientious than others. You get what you get.

That said, I like Smithtown Toyota, I bought my PIP there, traded in my 07 Camry with 90,000 miles for a good price and Dave, the service manager is a good guy to work with.

I had try Atlantic, Huntington and Smithtown Toyota's many years ago and decided not to return to them anymore, only in a case of an emergency. The best service I had on my former 2004, was at Millennium Toyota in Hempstead but I think they went out of business.
It all boils down to trial and error for the expert and well trained mechanic at the time of service.
Unfortunately I will have to show-up to one of this for my 10k service and free oil change

Millennium is still there, just around the corner from me. I'll be trying them for the first 5,000 mile service on my C soon.

As you know Long Island is a big place. If you live farther east, go to Competition Toyota in Middle Island. Try to stay away from Sunrise Toyota in Oakdale ... not a good rep!

You should post the name of the dealer or post the town in order to have a gauge of service quality.
To keep it anonymously doesn't help to quality improvement or to get stuck to the sloppy ones. just my 2 cents.

Sharing my experiences with Toyota dealers I went to so far.
DCHToyota City Mamorenck NY - Purchased dealer. I can loan a vehicle for free if there is need for any work done. I.E. I have rattling issue, they loan me Prius on first service, camry for the second.
Westbury Toyota Westbury NY - Had my first service done here. 5000 mile service. HORRIBLE SERVICE. Over-inflated my tires, don't even know if they rotated my tires. They are about 5minutes away from my house, they will be the last dealer i do go to for any future services

Heart City Toyota Indiana - Had check hybrid system warning light come up while driving in Indiana. Great people, great service. They went the distance to get me back on the road ASAP. Even had loaner vehicle all lined up within 30minutes incase they couldn't fix my car that day. Are all Indiana people this nice? (joke)
