i just picked up my prius plug-in yesterday. i overinflated the tires on my 2010 V the day i picked it up on the advice of priuschat members. i'm not sure if/how much it helped mpg, because i never drove the car with the tires at recommended pressures. so....who is or isn't overinflating their pip tires, and does it help?? michael

Run mine at 42/40. I'm sure you'll receive many suggestions. Just keep in mind the higher the pressure the less rolling resistance but the worse the ride. Hey, who cares about ride.

I have mine at 40, and meaning to offset front and back by 2 psi. The car rolls noticeably better when gliding. I am getting the same general distance on a charge, maybe half a a mile more, but there are different factors that affect it so its hard to tell. I did notice better mpg in HV mode because I could maintain higher coasting speeds.
I inflate mine to 42/40. My drive to work on 35/35 (something like that, whatever the dealer changed it to) was 13.0 miles. After inflating to 42/40, my trip meter says my drive to work is now 12.9. Of course, it's probably something like 13.01 vs 12.99, but still, there is a difference with the more inflated tire/increased rolling diameter. It does seem to roll/coast much better.
Leaving stock until my warranty runs out. I don't want want complications from the dealer when I have a warranty claim. Besides, they'll just deflate them again every 5k miles during the free maintenance period. I plan to do 42/40 when I pass 36k miles.
Actually, I believe the opposite is true. The factory tire pressure is on the lower range so that the tire absorbs bumps for a more comfortable ride. In my Gen 2, I found that 35/33 caused the tire to noticeably wear on the edges, meaning a smaller contact patch. Bumping it up to 42/40 caused the wear to be even, meaning a larger contact patch.
In the UK we get 15 inch "alloys" with hubs. PSI seems to slip out of them like sand through your hands. Very odd.
