Sorry Jim but in my view it's your poor decision to pass up gas stations and thus hold up traffic to make it home that makes YOU worthy of name calling.

Hey, I play mileage games too (current best: 62+miles on EV in my volt) but I purposely do it on rural roads void of traffic.

Maybe Jimbo has pissed off too many "douche bags" to feel safe pulling into a local gas station.

You definitely had many miles left, and worried about nothing ;) That said, you don't want to drain the tank, since the fuel is also used to cool the pump, and with older cars, you also had to worry about debris settling at the bottom of the tank (not sure if that's still valid with the Prius).

Definitely interested in your refueling numbers ;)

He was on my nice person even before I had time to drive slow. I was accelerating normally as I made the left turn off the highway. He was on my butt from the second the light turned green.

As for the highway, yes I was driving slow. Probably 45-50 in a 55 but there was no traffic. The lack of traffic was part of the reason I didn't take the exit. There was more traffic on the exit and the road it turned into than on the highway.

Nice try though. You were almost right.

How does this happen to the range? Cruising range less than EV range? 20121105_200403.jpg

that's pretty good. i'm guessing the math for calculating these differs. maybe the DTE is more pessimistic about EV range?

Sounds like they need an IF statement. IF EV<DTE then CR else EV

No. But I drive more efficiently than the estimate. So I think dte just goes down like an odometer during a trip. I started the trip with 4.4 EV and 4 dte, then drove about 3 miles before taking that pic.

I've heard this before...but why would there be more debris at the bottom of a tank that is full compared to one that has 0.1 gallons in in. The fuel filter is going to get clogged from either one...or be able to handle both cases.
And has anyone actually burned out a fuel pump from it overheating when they ran out of gas?
