    LOL indeed!

They continue to jab their lunacy against this car. Even though their readers are insisting otherwise, they refuse to be bothered in understanding the appeal of this car. Small, light, efficient, practical, inexpensive, and a slice of fun all rolled up into one whimsical package. Whatever they're looking for in a car apparently has no relevance to our interests. Most of us bought the car because we like it, not because we were socio-politically pigeonholed into buying one. Just sayin', CR might need to take a step back and understand why their analysis is so far off their own reader data report.

Does that help improve their "this car sucks" rating of the C from earlier this year?

I love all the excuses they give for Ford "Oh, they updated their models this year, so of course reliability took a hit".

Yet the Prius c tops the list despite being an entirely new model.

No bias here folks, no bias at all.

Of course the C is a reliable car. It's only been in existence for less than a year so naturally there's likely to be little to no issues from owners ;) I must admit it seems a little "unfair" to label it as being most reliable for this reason, but as a C owner I definitely don't mind the praise lol :) I'm sure it'll live up to its reliability as it ages, just like many other Toyota cars (y)

Well considering that the ford models, also brand new, did not fair as well I would say it is a correct report. Plenty of new models come out each year and don't end up tops on the report.

CR's reliability ratings based upon reader reports have nothing to do with their review other than a vehicle must have at least average reliability to be in the running to be recommended. It doesn't affect the review.

Their test results (e.g. handling, braking, acceleration, comfort, noise, ride, observations about interior materials, fit and finish, etc.) are not based upon reader reports, nor are they asked about it. They didn't recommend it because it didn't do well in their tests. If it did well enough on their tests AND had at least average reliability, it'd have been recommended.

As I and others have stated before, there are PLENTY of vehicles that CR has not recommended because of poor test results, despite good or even excellent reliability. Prius c is not the first and won't be the last.

Whether you agree w/their test criteria, methodology and observations is a separate question.

CR also asks readers about their owner satisfaction, which I believe wasn't reported and also has no bearing on whether they recommend a vehicle or not.

That's not my point whatsoever. My point is the ongoing disconnect between CR's tests/recommendations and the vehicle demographic they're supposed to be mindful of, and why leaving the vehicle owner out of the equation is tolerated. CR can't possibly be expected to be taken seriously when they intentionally test cars strictly in their own euphoric bubble of alternate reality.

This is the same reason why so much of the common automotive media is becoming so derided; they fail to understand that you can't just make things up, flat-out lie, and push your opinion, you have to have good knowledge of the vehicles' purpose and/or have solid data to back it up. CR's video of the Prius C where they complain about the road noise of the car while videotaping it in the car while it's moving is obvious proof that they're wildly out of touch with reality and simply belittling the car for no valid disclosed reason. If they have some actual data to back up their claim [like how InsideLine published decibel data, proving it's more mental than acoustic], they apparently can't be bothered to provide it. That sort of irreverence is yet another reason to not take CR seriously.

It is one thing to not recommend Prius c but it is another to advise consumers to avoid it and openly state that they do not like the car.

Do we know which criteria Prius c came short in their tests? And by how much?

They posted a video review of the car complaining it was too loud. The video was shot inside the car, where you can clearly hear the presenter and curiously, you cannot hear the car at all. Obviously, that's not too loud. They also failed to provide acoustic measurement data to back up their claim, something that InsideLine of course was happy to publish, proving the noise floor is quite comparable to more expensive hatchbacks. That's the jist of it.

I have to admit that whenever I am driving Entu and happen to not have music on, and the ride is so quiet, I just laugh out loud remembering that "the cabin is too loud" statement.

Reliability reports of a car less than a year in service are overrated, in my book. Get back to me when the car is 10 years old and we'll discuss it.

I guess, however, having no problems on the first six months of my li'l C is better than having problems.

Same. "This is also a really noisy car" is the laughable and proven inaccurate claim which, as others have noted, is said by the presenter while driving the car which can barely be heard.

Well, we all knew that Consumer Reports missed the mark on their test drive of the Prius C. Nice to know that they aren't totally living in Oz and have realized that the C is top dog on the reliability factor. Meanwhile, Prius C owners are a group who are able to make up their own minds about whether or not a car is right for them. This one is a winner!

Does not really matter to me CR hated the car so much in the test drive. I see more and more Cs on the road every day. I see about 3-5 every day so people are not being brain washed and that's what matters to me.

And yes I'll gladly take 2012 most reliable cat title :)
