I was looking at trading in my 2010 Prius III but I was disappointed that the PIP didn't have the solar sunroof as an option. I do love that feature.

yeah i know. but i decided getting to plug in trumped the "coolness" of the solar roof. and hey, this car is already too expensive as is…

Sounds like you do a lot of driving. The PiP will only give you 12 to 15 miles on a charge. After that you're driving pretty much a normal Prius.

Even if the PiP gets a bit better fuel economy on ICE (and I never see under 50 mpg on a trip even without EV), the difference from your car is probably small.

So it might not pay unless you can switch without paying significantly, or if you can charge during the day.

Consider waiting a year or three until the PiP gets more EV range. Or think about a Volt (gasp) if the 35 mile EV range works for you and the 37 mpg ICE doesn't kill the savings.

Or if you just have to have the latest, neatest Prius - well, then, welcome to the club. :)

I'm trying to get a deal like is posted in the other thread. @26488 includes the $3500 toyota rebate w/o tax/tags and or $2500 tax incentive.

I've talked to Bosh in Mass. Thats 17 1/2 hours away if I don't stop to eat or anything else. trying to get a deal like what was posted in the other thread. $26488 includes the $3500 toyota rebate w/o tax/tags and or $2500 tax incentive.

I also talked to a person in Roanoke VA, Thats 9 hours away. but he offered $27500+$399 proc/doc fees (what is this?) and $889.22 in taxes. Its 1 thousand more but closer.

My problem now is physically getting to dealer that has incentives and which is closest and easiest to get to. I don't know how to do an internet search for the closest Toyota dealership that also has a prius plug in and also has the incentives. Theres probably a way but I don't know one. Any suggestions?

i would start by looking at inventory of dealerships around your state and work my way out further and further away, contacting them by email and getting quotes. hopefully, you can find something not too far away.

Perhaps my view of PiP usage is unique. I designate the EV miles for non-highway miles. On the highway, I use the gas engine and I can easily get 60 MPG out of it.

I find the EV miles more than enough because the highways are so close to each other (and to my home and destinations). Perhaps that's because I live in a crowded (relative) city.

I end up using the "extra" EV miles on the highway, either going at speed limit 55 mph or with EV boost at over 62 mph.

I'd be uneasy, trading in so soon. You made a weighty decision just a few months back, and now...

It will likely be expensive. Stick it out to the first revision to the PIP? They might have a spare tire, LOL.

Also, what is KBB? Kibbles and Bits??

Are you selling your car yourself?
If not, you should also find out which dealer is offering what for your current Prius.

All the way to the right, where it says Plug-in shopping tools, you can put in your zip code and look for deals. It's a start.

Look like KY does not have many incentives, but you qualify for $2500 Fed tax credit.

I think you should get a PiP if you really want one, not due to great price at the moment.
If you do really want one, see this thread some DC area dealers giving great Gen3 trade+PiP combo prices.

I went to a Toyota dealer today & looked at the PiP models. I was a little disappointed that the base PiP has a smaller NAV screen than my 10 Prius III. I love the idea of the PiP but I'm wondering if I would also miss the better NAV unit I now have & my Solar Sunroof. I'm having a hard time with the thought of an advanced model at $40k before discounts!!!!!

Buy the car in Boston then. TFS gives you a $5k rebate there, plus you could probably get a dealer to sell at invoice, which is another $2k. :p

I wonder why TFS offer so much more in Boston? Doesn't seem fair to me???? If I had the time to fly out & drive back I just might!

probably because they had overestimated demand there much more than in other parts? NY Metro area gives just 3500 and CA gives just 1500 – which is why I went up to Lithia in the first place.

I wonder if there is a difference between OR & WA from TFS?
