I'm getting the "Key Battery Low" message that some other folks have gotten. So I looked at some local stores, and no one has the CR-1632 batteries listed in the Owner's Manual. Anyone found a chain or other store that sells this size battery? I'd prefer finding one to buying on the internet, so I won't have to wait for the mail. Thanks!
We have chain store in this area- Batteries Plus. They have all type of batteries. See www.batteriesplus.com
Radio Shack is usually a ripoff. Even your Toyota dealer might be cheaper. I'd normally recommend FRYS.com, but there are none in the OP's state. I'd try a Walmart or a drug store before Radio Shack. Also try calling local auto parts starts (e.g. O'Reilly or Autozone). I've seen some lithium batteries intended for key fobs there at the checkout counter.
Thanks--Walmart here didn't have them, nor did one or two other places I checked, so I got them at RadioShack, even though they were too expensive there. I have to say that changing the battery was a bit of an adventure because I tried to follow the Owner's Manual. It would not open with a Phillips screwdriver (as shown), but only with a flat blade, and when opened, the working part of the fob came off in the wrong half of the shell, so the battery wasn't exposed--I hope I didn't screw anything up getting it out.
Some Priuschatters have pointed me to Digikey before. I've never used them before. From Battery Products | Batteries Non-Rechargeable (Primary) | DigiKey, it looks like they have them for $1.08. Might be good to order some in the future along w/some other coin cell batteries you need all at once so that you don't pay shipping on a single battery.
