Hello: I just won an ebay auction for Auto Enginuity, version 9.03 12/21/2010. the guy bought it for his 2002 corolla, and used it only once to troubleshoot his car. Is there anything else I need, from when I emailed autoenginuity a month ago about their products The cd and the dongle would allow me to read all the codes but to access the hybrid battery I would need the expansion cd. SO my question is, is this going to work for my car? Near as I can tell if you are getting the "Toyota" option, you are set. However, you may want to contact Auto Enginuity to see about a software update . . . expect to pay some cost and explain how you got it. The worst that happens is you don't get the update. <grins> GOOD LUCK! Bob Wilson
Bob I contacted Autoenginuity. The guy told me he needs the connector ID number to see if it has the toyota expansion and will work for my car. what would happen if I do not have the expansion, can I still read things on the car itself, just not the hybrid battery? first off what is the ST06 proline interface?
What happens is there are core or standard functions that all cars have and those always work. But the Prius battery is unique. Fortunately, I didn't have to buy a Prius specific version of the software with mine. It too was version 9.x so I suspect you'll be OK. Any estimate about when you'll get it? Bob Wilson
I didnt buy it yet, I sent Evan from autoenginuity the link to it and this is what he said That is an older Generic OBDII scantool. We sell the exact same thing on ebay for less. When I bought mine, I ordered it directly from AutoEnginuity making sure I got the Toyota option AFTER calling to make sure it was 'Prius Friendly.' The problem with other sources is warranty or return as well as post-sales support. I knew it was going to be about $500 but it also meant I could get any problems fixed or get my money back. Even so, there were some things that couldn't be fixed to work the way I wanted. Still, I have no plans to return it. Bob Wilson ps. The 'sticky' post discusses the pig-tail.
Our only non-Toyota vehicle is a 1993, GM, G30 van part of our Coachman RV. This was too early to meet any of the OBD standards so the connector won't fit. I did use the AutoEnginuity on a Toyota Tundra pickup and it worked great. Bob Wilson

Hi guys how you doing? I have just bought autoenginuity & am drawling with some info to me get up & running... and am having issues. I have installed the st06 hardware, & have the toyota enhanced activation & support highlighted in green. BUT for the last few hours I have just been unable to connect to my car. Furthermore, Its done something to my car & the ABS VSC & handbrake lights are all on & I am without ABS... WHY am I having these problems? please shed some light... Does auto detection work on the prius? for the protocal, I tryed with can Still no joy... I am Pulling my hair out, Please shed some light on this topic cheers...
Our NHW11 is KWP2000 and attempts to use CAN or autodetect will induce false codes and show error messages. One of the CAN lines is a control line which explains why things go catty-wompus. I went so far as to make a 'pig-tail' that prevents anything but KWP2000 communications (see sticky thread.) Bob Wilson

SO far all Autoenginuity has done is, Immoblised my ABS & VSC etc... All those Lights on my car are flashing, with handbrake light... & I have not even managed a connection yet...
OWCH! The autodiscovery should work in CANbus mode with the NHW20. Call AutoEnginuity and make sure you have the latest firmware for the adapter. You might also send a PM to "hobbit" as he has one too and an NHW20. BTW, it works perfectly with our ZVW30. For now, I would recommend disconnecting the 12V battery for a minute and that will clear all codes. Then try again. Bob Wilson

I could not get mine to work at all, I sent it back and they refused to acknlowedge there was a problem or refund me. Complete waste of money. Bear in mind the manfacturers spend millions of dollars developing this stuff and zillions of man hours testing it, so a few guys in a back office reverse engineering it, having a bit of hardware made in China and then selling it for US$ 500 are never going to get anywhere near the O/E functionality. Look at the prices of the O/E diagnostics. They are all many thousand dollars, and that is usually a years licence. Using unapproved diagnostic software will also invalidate warranties and will leave traces on the ECU that another device has interrogated it. Modern control devices use in the main reprogrammable hardware (unlike in the older days when the software was often permanently embedded in the chip memory) so it is possible to corrupt it completlely. If you have an old car out of warranty with little or no resale value its probably worth a go, if not then you are risking quite a lot. You may even affect the safety of the vehicle. Ask me how I know.....
