After buying the OEM 2005 EV button and discovering it would not fit into the socket of my 2006, I tried installing the EV kit from coastaletech.com. It works on my 2006 Prius! EV mode is so cool!

It didn't work at first. I didn't press the pin into socket #27 deeply enough. I had to use a super tiny screwdriver (like the ones used to work on watches) to press the pin deep into the #27 socket. When I plugged everything back in and fired up the car, I was pleasantly surprised to see EV mode working!

It is very convenient to activate EV mode using the cruise control cancel feature. It's right at the fingertips!

I'll take your OEM button if you don't want it. How much do you want for it?

    Andrew -
On my 2006, there are two blank switch locations next to the instrument light adjuster. Which position is your EV button in?
    Thanks,
    Jim

    Jim,

You can click on the link for the location of the 2005 on the picture left bottum. In my car it's in the middle.

Thanks. Just out of curiosity, what's on the other end? ...and what's an "angel" switch?
(I hate having blanks that don't have a function... it's a lot like having empty sockets on a couputer motherboard... you just want to fill them up with something... )

Indeed. Thanks for being the first - that I'm aware of - to try the CoastalTech EV in the '06. Congrats.

    My Ev installation: T-14 days.

I'm interested in doing this, but I'm curious - is this one of those things that voids the warranty? I'm sure someone has posted this info somewhere else, but I'm feeling too lazy to search for it. Seems like it shouldn't since they offer it in other countries. That's nice how it's incorporated into the cruise control functions!

    Jim,

On the left of the three is the wheel switch for the angel of the headlights. To turn them more to the ground when the car is full loaded in the back. (mother in law)
The middle press button is the AV. And the right is empty.

Maybe you can just order a original AV switch at the Toyota dealer

Do you mean the headlights don't adjust automatically anymore on the 2006's? Or is that just how they are in Holland?

In Holland we have to turn the headlight by hand with normal lights. When a car has the special Hi hi bright blue light it will turn automatic.
