I recently bought a used 2004 Prius. It has two cuts, or slits, behind the rear tires on both sides of the car. I have not seen these on other Prius'. It is clear these were not caused by accident. Any idea what they are for?
There are 'skirts' which mount on the bottom of the bumper there. You can see what I'm talking about in this photo It's below the whole rear bumper:
I see. So its an aftermarket thing, and it appears whatever was on my vehicle was taken off. Not a big fan of those holes there. I see in the picture you have no holes...
I don't think those can be classified as "aftermarket". I believe they are OEM parts, and that yours are simply missing from your car. I have looked a quite a few Gen2's, and they all have what you are missing. Ron
Bummer. Thanks for the info. If anyone knows the part I need please let me know. If I find it I will post it here. Thanks for your help.
I may be mistaken, but I think the item is called a "spoiler". Take a look a this breakdown. 2004 TOYOTA PRIUS Parts - Champion ToyotaWorld Also, while you are on that site, click on the "contact" tab, then give them a call. Ask for Jake. Tell him what you see, I would bet he can give you the exact part numbers and prices. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings, but your car is definitely missing some parts. Our looks identical to the other's posted in this string with the exception of your car. Ron
Yeah, the parts are not aftermarket but OEM and came with the car new. Those pics are not of my car past, just ones I found using google to show ya' what they looked like. Mine would never look as dirty as the one in that second pic LoL You can see a diagram breakdown and prices on parts.com: Auto Parts - Parts.com, For Every Part of Your Life OP, if you found my posts helpful at all, you can 'like' them too
