No, they are downloaded automatically and they are free for the PiP but the Base PiP has apparently no means of tracking exactly what update you have/if it is working.

Entune may be crappy--I can't use it because it requires a costly smartphone minimum to access.
The baic Nav GPS is not crappy--although I can't compare this and no doubt there are more costly and featured GPSrs built into more costly cars.

My question is/was whether the GPS automatic updates that I would use/like to have tie into/are part of the Entune System I have currently have no intention of using?

Interesting...they sell the GPS update for $168 at my Toyota dealership. Didn't look at the medium whether it was USB or DVD. Ford's was on a DVD. The Entunes update is free via USB but that has nothing to do with GPS.

I can confirm that Prius nav is very crappy as are most car navs. Crude, poor features, expensive updates. Look at Garmin auto navs for a comparison.

In my opinion it is crappy. If you compare it to a toyota navigation from a 2008 prius, the 2008 navigation is far superior in functionality and user friendliness. Toyota had the best GPS in the auto market, now they may have one of the average crappy one. I am more than disappointed with it.

    Not enough main streets highlighted.
Scrolling has lag and is choppy with no actual scrolling, just a jump and having poorly labeled main streets makes it hard to figure out where it jumped you to.
No ability to add flags to the map.
When you select a point on the map it should tell you your distance from that point in miles, it does not.
Traffic is useless as you cannot tell how it is affecting traffic speeds it just tells you locations of accidents.

Try a 2006 - 2011 Toyota navigation it is awesome.

Confused, can some please clarify for me. I am using an iphone 4s IOS6. on my Prius C 3. To access the internet without a USB cord, what do I need to do? Is this possible? I swear I had it working the first time I got the car and now it is not working anymore. I updated the Entune software recently too. I tried everything.

It's great. Very handy to have...watching NFL games on my boat...saving me $200 not needing 3G on my iPad...alternate internet connection when cable goes down (last night)...Bluetooth internet for my car...well worth it.
