How is the cover above the upper strunt mount removed on an 02 model?
Do the wiper arms have to be removed? Need someone who has done this.
    Thanks, Don

I have not replaced the struts but the top requires removal of the wiper arms and windshield tray. It is not a difficult task.

Yes, you need to remove the wiper arms, then remove the two-piece black plastic trim covering the cowl tray. There are two screws, one on either end of the trim.

Then you will see the wiper motor mechanism. Remove that, then you can remove the sheet metal cowl tray and will have access to the strut top mount nuts.

Actually I just replaced mine yesterday. You have to take off both wipers (I think 14mm bolts). You have to pop off the rubber seal in front (needle nose pliers work great to pinch them). Next you need to take off 2 Philips screws right by the left and right hood hinges. Lift the plastic up from the front carefully and pull towards you. Plastic clips are under the windsheild. Wiggle it out gently. It does split in the center, be careful not to break it or the weather seal. You have to remove the wiper motor assembly. Unplug the connector, then take out 5 or 6 bolts. Then you have access to both sides to get the struts out. There are three small nuts holding them on. :) Good luck!
