I used to ride a BME r1200c a lot. Since meeting my fiancee I haven't used it and I'll probably sell it this year.

You forgot "Used to ride, but no longer do for whatever reason."

Don't own a Prius yet, so I won't vote, but have a Katana 750. Thinking about selling it after getting the Prius. Don't wanna be a gas hog (40 mpg).

I didn't vote because I don't own a Prius. But since I frequent here a lot,I thought I would put in my 2 cents worth, . I have a 1982 Honda CBX. Those of you into bikes will know that this has an in-line 6 cylinder. I boought it in 1990 with 5K on it. Since I don't have a lot of time some years,it only has just over 8K on it now. Maybe a good investment, ;) . Always had Honda's and I would say that these bikes ( CBX's ) are my favs.

Okay, I just can't resist this one...

I don't currently own a bike, but I've had 3 in the recent past:

    - Honda VT-500 (what I got my endorsement with)
    - BMW K100RS
    - Honda ST1100

Of the three I loved the ST the most. Reliable, stable, got ~45mpg.

I sold it when a guy I work with witnessed a hellish motorcycle accident (he's a Harley rider). A 17-year old ran a stop sign and broadsided the lead bike of the pack he was riding in. Killed the driver; severly maimed his passenger. I sold the bike soon after. I had some near misses, too.

I see way to many accidents around here and knew a teacher who was certified and did teach a motorcycle saftey class. All I can say is "crotch rockets".

at least the one that hit the back of my mom's car was. She likes to tell the story repeatedly.

For those that ride here, what kind of saftey gear are you all using?

    Depends.

I'll be the first to admit on hot sunny days, I'll be out there with shorts/t-shirt sneakers, and music blasting in my helmet.

Other times I'll have an armored jacket and jeans.

When I do track days, it's usually all out armored pants/jacket/gloves, etc.

But always, always, with a helmet, at the very least...

Thing is, it's always the irresponsible teenagers that make a lot of us look bad. MOST of the stupid accidents on crotch rockets happen between 16 and 25...

Whether you like cycles or not, I suspect you'll get a kick out of this Top Gear segment on the Ariel Atom.

I've never been interested in riding a motorcyle, myself, but I found this report both hilarious and rather cool. If I were tempted to drive at top speeds, I think this is the way I'd like to do it.

    Ah yes...

That video is infamous within the sportbike community...

    2 things to consider:

    1. They pair it up against a 600rr

    2. The bike pilot sucks

Had they paired him against a pro, or even quasi-pro biker on a 1000, he would have gotten his nice person handed to him.

But yeah, nonetheless, looks fun as hell, and a bit safer!

I always rode wearing what I would want to have on if I dropped the bike.

Which maybe explains why I don't ride anymore. ;)

"Recovering motorcyclist" wasn't an option in the poll. :p

I had an 85 Yamaha FJ 1100 until my mentor suggested that I quit. My wife never nagged me, but hearing him say it had an effect on me. I still love bikes and would still love to ride one, but I have a wife and daughter, and my choice is not to ride. It is a highly personal choice, though.
