I hope Danny posts him on PC's board of honored ones that have left us behind. Stan was a great guy. EVERY satisfied Prius driver owes a debt of thanks to him, because it's his battery ideas that made the 1st two Prius Gen's possible.

His brilliance with NiMH chemistry was sadly blunted by other business interests. Their only contribution was to accelerate lithium battery chemistry that is already replacing NiMH in portable tools and someday, hybrid cars. Yet his accomplishments extend beyond just battery chemistry.

So much contribution to technology, and so many inventions. This is especially sad as he seems to have been active right up until he left us. Here's to you, Stan!

Before NiMH battery, we had the NiCD that was toxic and held about half the energy. NiMH with super high power density is what enabled the first Prius to come out.
