Congrats and welcome! You're getting stellar mileage for the V model by the way! I trail behind large trailer trucks all the time too. Been thinking about getting those clear paint protectors for the front of my car to help deal with the rocks those things throw up.
my wife honda odyssey died and needed 6k of work. driving 15 k a year in a car that gets 3 times the mpg will save me over $200 a month. factor in the cost of the trade in @2k, i figure this car is only costing me about $60 a month. My other car is an X5, so needless to say, we are all fighting to drive the prius. It's fun to drive and doesn't cost me >$100 every time i go to the pump.
Buy her one of her own this weekend There are lots of them at Smart Motors Toyota on the south side of Madison. Mike
I'm going to try to not buy anything else for a little while. I had quite a 2012 with vehicles. Started the year with: 2002 Acura RL (hers) 2004 Lexus GS430 (mine) Bought a 2006 Pilot in April and sold the RL Bought a 1991 BMW 318i convertible in May, sold in July Bought a 2008 Scion XB in June and sold the GS430 and the BMW in July Bought the 2010 Prius in October Going to stick with the Prius and XB for a little while, I'm closing on a house next month and am trying to sell my condo, and my daughter started daycare this week (OUCH$$). Once the condo sells, I may replace the XB with something else but that will be in the spring at the earliest. I also don't really know what I'd replace it with. I'd like to get a 07-08 GX470 for her, I think that would be my first choice.
That's above 50mpg on 17's so excellent mileage. What kind of gas you running? I get real good mpg's in the rentals running midgrade Iowa E sumthin gas Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
I only fill up Shell regular, have been in all my cars for years. One time I squeezed 28mpg out of my 2004 Lexus GS430 which is a 4.3L V8 rated for 17/23! I consistently averaged 25-26 mostly hwy in that car running Shell premium. I'm usually 3 MPG's off the computer settings so my 140 mile trip last night got me 55mpg, can't complain about that!
55 is excellent. I run mid 40's to mid 50's depending on the route I take across town 89 dino gas in my Prius. I drive rentals more than my own vehicals. Rental Prii are getting hard to find lately. Got a RAV4 for the next 2 weeks. Gas is kinda spendy around Tomah Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
I usually rent a Chrysler 300 or a Toyota Sequoia when I rent....love those things The 300 is definitely my first choice, quiet, smooth, comfortable and I usually average about 28mpg...I get 19 in the Sequoia which is actually not bad.
My preference is a Prius then Sienna then the RAV4 Hertz in Minnesota quit buying and renting Prius this year Mike Mobile on my SGH-i717
