Their are some of us that have gone 700 on a tank. Just have to drive and think about driving differently.
I would say simply thinking while driving. Too many drivers out there are inefficient drivers. Its nice when cars like the Prius C (or other cars that show fuel consumption) show how to tweak your driving to be more efficient. Among the myriads of techniques for hypermiling, the one that I use which I figured out on my own is "driving without brakes". Fairly simple to incorporate into daily driving, and a major gas saver. I cant wait to own one and see what ill be able to get .
I don't have any links for the 'c', but the the regular liftback has done 1889 on a single tank. Here is a list of several records. All these drivers should be able to go far beyond 1000 miles on a single tank on a 'c'.
All you have to do to get great mileage is to find a route that is always descending. A road that looks like the counterclockwise staircase in this famous M. C. Escher print. Stay away from the clockwise route.
I got close to 500 on my first tank, bought a C (4) and try driving it at hyper mileage style. I was amazed to see at todays prices I only spend $39 dollars to fill it up. $4.55 a gallon! compared to my Mercedes Wagon $69 to fill up a 16 gallon tank. getting 14mpg lol. Will never go back to regular cars again. Love hybrids now.
