Hello! I am picking up my "new to me" 2010 Prius V tomorrow morning and am very excited. I am trading in my wife's Honda Pilot EX-L for it and am giving her my Scion XB. I drive 2-4k miles a month for work so I'm looking forward to better fuel economy. Anything beats the Pilot though. Anyway, just wanted to say hello. It's a CPO red 2010 with all the goodies, 32k miles on it. I'll upload some pictures in the next few days. My wife is very excited to not spend $80 at the pump anymore!
Dropped off the Pilot and picked up the Prius a couple hours ago. Loving the car so far! Synched my phone, everything is simple and working great. Averaged 53.5mpg (on the computer) on the 39 mile drive home. [/IMG] The old gas hog Now the wife will be driving our Scion and I'll be in the Prius for the most part. I travel a lot for work (sometimes up to 4K miles a month) so I'll be updating this thread as I go. I'm heading from Milwaukee to St. Louis on Tuesday, so I'll have about 900-1000 miles on it by the end of next week - can't wait to see how this thing is on gas!
Do keep in mind that it's very likely you'll find the trip computer's readings on the Gen 3 Prius to be high vs. manual calculations. It's probably best to track both values over time in a spreadsheet.
Welcome, I bought a used 2010 V a couple months ago for the same reasons. Enjoy the car and the gas savings, I am it's saving me over $ 20 a day for my commute , probably save more than $4000 in gas this year since I drive about 35,000 miles a year or more.
Are you all really getting your tires rotated every 5k? I'm starting to look at the maintenance schedule and was surprised to see oil changes and tire rotations so often. With 0w20 oil you should be able to go longer than 5k.
Oil changes for the gen III is 10k not 5k. I rotate tires every 10k. Seems to be sufficient. Tires are wearing very evenly.
Thanks...I've been reading up on it and saw that. Why are the rotations so frequent? Heading out to St. Louis later this morning, should be in the car for most of the day with a meeting in Peoria, IL. This will be my first real trip with the Prius, I'm excited!
Made it down to St. Louis. First tank I averaged 48.7mpg with about 90% highway. Amazing! It was nice to only fill up once today. Usually in a day with this many miles, I'd fill up twice in my Scion XB. I of course will now try to beat it.
