This is crazy and somebody probably has done it somewhere, but i found this korean guy completed a 1000 mile a tank. 1609.1km / 999.85 miles 3.0L/100km / 78.40 MPG average speed 43kmh / 26.71 MPH filled up 50.469 Liters = 13.33 Gal = @ 2038 korean won/L = 102,855 korean won = @1110.45 won = $1 (smallest denomination for paper money "bill" is 1,000 won in korea) = $92.62 = $6.95 a Gal i can't save the picture (because the forum disabled the use of right click, and im too lazy to bring pics). he has like 15+ pictures of his journey. here is the link... hope it works http://cafe.naver.com/priusmind/29571
While that is well beyond my current ability and patience, it is still quite short of the 1889 miles on a single tank of a GenII:New World Record - 1619 miles per tank. (Note that the Japanese GenII tank is about one-third larger than American GenII/III tanks.) Here is a collection of links to previous records. But I don't recall Ken posting any tank records for GenIII.
If I had a 13.5 gallon tank I might be able to do a 1000 mile tank, but alas I don't. But next spring on a 11.9 gallon tank I will make an attempt for a 900 mile tank.
You can do like the Japanese supermilers. Lift the car on the gas cap side with a jack so you can reduce any air bubbles in tank then fill it up to the top of the filler neck. LOL Don't do it!
Um...that's comparing apples and oranges. Pretty sure they could dominate you in whatever Volt competition you could come up with as well.
