How's that Pip purchase looking NOW?

When I pulled in last Sunday to fill up (at $4.059/gal) the previous purchase was still on the pump.

    $104.00 (that'd be almost $130 now)

LOL! I won't use that much in a many weeks, and I drive 60+ miles a day!

While I hope that it will sink in this time and people will focus on better fuel efficiency, iam afraid it will once again be a short term bump in sales.
Someday, people will put this in their long term memory.

unfortunately the general population does not care enough about fuel costs VS what they drive, or their driving habits. And even less people care enough about the environment to think about carbon footprint.

Yeah, the above is very true and sad. Re: carbon footprint, there's a pretty sizable % of Americans who think that AGW is a crock/fraud. I usually avoid bringing that up and instead refer to the points below instead.

Besides the above, there's too much of the general population who doesn't seem to know/realize the geopolitics of oil and our dependence on foreign oil (where most of the world's oil reserves lie, oil chokepoints like the Strait of Hormuz, military interventions needed to secure its supply, the oil crises in the 70s (Remembering the 1973 oil crisis | PriusChat), etc.) As someone else put it, they don't seem to realize the connection between driving SUVs and national security. I'd add the words large/full-sized to that.

Take a look at the myopic comment I posted at Have you heard about the new CAFE ruling? | PriusChat. To top it off, the comment (on page 2 of White House Sets Final Fuel Economy Standards Through 2025 - MSN Autos) actually got more thumbs ups than thumbs down (29 vs. 13).
