I don't know anything about Leviton's EVSE and how yours is installed, but in the future, is there any way you can check the voltage of the outlet (if the EVSE is plugged in) or the wiring itself (if it's hardwired)? You can buy a cheap volt-ohm meter/multimeter for <$10 at say Harbor Freight Tools or Fry's Electronics. At least that way you can see if the EVSE is actually getting power and/or loses it.

I had a Nissan-branded Aerovironment L2 EVSE in my possession (that I sold to devprius) and it required hardwiring. IIRC, it looked pretty trivial to remove the front cover (it's wasn't screwed on anyway when it came new) and put a multimeter on the terminals to confirm whether there was any voltage.

There's a vanity-ring that covers the 9 or so front-panel screws and according to my electrician, it's a pain to remove the ring. But once the ring and screws are off, it does indeed look pretty simple to use a multi-meter to test voltage coming in.

    Dianne,
Now that you have us all convinced Leviton has poor customer service, what exactly was the problem at your dealership? Obviously not the charger, what was it? It would be helpful for the rest of us to know, so we don't repeat your mistake and struggle if it happens to us. So far, our Leviton is working perfectly. Hopefully it stays that way.

The charger is inside the car. The Leviton unit is an EVSE.

Yes, I understand the difference. I was using Dianne's verbage in her original thread, subsequently changed to "box". Seems to me blaming where the blame isn't due might be part of the problem at Carson Toyota. Sounds like someone flipped the breaker and didn't tell her, unless she fesses up.
