Are there any Idaho owners/future owners out there? We're looking at placing our order in the next week or two. We hear that the dealer in Boise charges $2000 over MSRP (besides the already-poor reputation), but beyond that I can't seem to find anything on any other dealerships. I'm considering going out of state, if necessary, but maybe someone has feedback about other dealers around the state (Caldwell, Twin Falls, CDA, etc).
Yup, Check my Author area at the left of this post. Didn't realize that Peterson Toyota was charging a "market adjustment". Last I heard Tom Scott in Caldwell is not. We originally were on Peterson's waiting list but my wife couldn't wait so ended up calling around to area dealers where we have family, and ultimately bought from Walser Toyota in Bloomington, MN. Had only a 6 week wait for thier pkg. #3 TRAC car (3800 miles on it when we picked it up) which they sold to us for significantly under MSRP. Only cost $164 to fly my wife out to pick it up, so still was under MSRP. We were so happy with Walser, we are actually going back to them for a second Prius. This one will be at MSRP. That said, we have been very happy so far with Tom Scott in Caldwell as far as their service department goes. SSC 40D update with no problems. Jon
Thanks for your feedback on my question. I ended up working with the dealer in Ontario, Oregon (Dan W was extremely helpful) and got our 2005 Tideland #6 (fka #9) in 45 days from the first phone call. Could have been sooner if there hadn't been a 30 day delay between deliveries of each Prius. It was worth the one hour drive from Boise to Ontario - especially since Tom Scott put our estimated delivery date at "no sooner than Feb or March 2005". The wait at other dealers near family/friends was even longer. Even though I may live in what some consider to be rural (Idaho), I needed to go even more rural to get a car in less than 6-9 months. We paid a bit over MSRP, but when you figure the benefits of ownership in 2004 vs. 2005 it worked out just about even for us (higher tax deduction, start saving money on gas now, already had a buyer for our old car, interest rates likely better now than in 6 months, etc). Plus, I'm not known for my patience! The posts I've read here have been so helpful for everything we really needed to know as we went through the process. Looking forward to not only reading them, but participating as well in the future!
Lived in Moscow and Viola Idaho 1986-99. One of the last things we did before leaving for Ark. was buy our first Toyota, a Corolla, from James in Moscow. Didn't get the Prius till last year. Still miss a lot of stuff about Idaho.
Petersons was very condescending when we were shopping. I got mine over in Ontario through the Costco program. Didn't save a ton, but definitely paid less than what Peterson was going to charge me. Any other Prius owners in Boise. Perhaps we can form a sub-chapter of some kind?
I realize this is an oooold thread. Looking for Idaho (treasure valley) Prius owners for possible club activities.
I purchased my prius from Wills Toyota in Twin Falls and they do not sell them over sticker. They are a really good dealer and I have purchased 2 cars from them.
Just trying to reach out to Idaho owners. Anybody know the actual price to have an oil change and tire rotation at the dealer. Or any place that you would recommend for those services? Thanks
Where in Idaho? I've had several oil services at Boise Foreign Car and they come in around $65 I think. I don't have my invoice handy, will double check it though.
