I am deciding between two steel rims for my winter tires. Which one would you suggest? Both are 15x6, 5-100 and lug centric. There differences are: 1) Offset: 38mm vs 40 mm 2) Maximum load: 1562 lbs vs. 1111 lbs 3) Price: $55 vs $60 The price isn't much a factor. I am kind of worried that the wheel set with a maximum load 4,444 lbs might not be strong enough? The Prius has a GVWR of 3,980 lbs and curb weight of 3080 lbs. Is there a good chance my wheels could be damaged if I hit a pothole at a fast enough speed? What difference can 2mm of offset make? Thank you for your time!
I used my 15" factory wheels for winter tire use and bought a nicer set for summer. The factory wheels are about the best you're going to find at resisting corrosion. I had the choice of buying 15" wheels and running my factory tires in the summer or upgrading to a larger diameter wheel with new tires. (I bought 15" wheels.)
I am planning to get 15" steel rims for a 2012 Corolla and put them on my Prius. These should fit right? I read that people have done this but not sure if it'll still work for 2012s. I live in Canada so most of the sale forum sellers are too far for me. I would buy actual Prius alloy rims from the stealership but they're charging me $500 per rim. =O
