I was looking at the front of the car today with the lights on and just seeing what everything looked like all light up. It raised a question; I know the DRL are bright because I can see them in the bumper of the car in front of me. But the placement of the turning signal bothers me. They are very low to the ground and not visible at all from the side, so changing lanes could be an issue and snow might also be an issue with where they are located. Has anyone installed side marker/signals like the ones on the VW or Mini cooper? I have seen the mirror mods done on here and they are very cool but is this the only option?
DeanFL put side markers/turn signals on that looked pretty good. A few other members made their in-the-headlight housing side and parking lights into turn signals as well. Lots of options.
Personally, I think the DRL makes the turn signal harder to see during day time. The Audis and Chryslers turn off the DRL on the side turn signal is used.
Mine turns the DRL on the side the turning signal is activated on, it's just so low I worry about it come winter around Buffalo. That and you can't see it at all from the side while changing lanes on the interstate. I think I may end up doing both a Mirror mounted front facing signal LED add on AND an LED side market light like on some of the VW's or Mini coupers I've seen. I spotted these: Amazon.com: Flush Mount LED Turn Signals - Smoked - Honda 03-09 CBR 600RR, 04-09 CBR 1000RR, 99-00 CBR 600 F4, 01-09 CBR 600 F4i: Automotive I think I might order some just to see what they would look like up against the fender.
