My 2010 and 2012 have leather/softex but when I had the 2006 with fabric interior I used scotch-guard and it worked great. That's when my son was born as well so from birth till almost 4 years old it held up well on the seats... And you can imagine how hard they are on fabric interior at that age.

When I did it back then, they only had it in a red/silver can but now they make all different 'types', one which says for 'auto'.. If they really are any different.

Product Catalog: Scotchgardâ„¢ Auto Interior Fabric Protector

I used Scotchguard on my dark gray cloth seats and after 3 years and 51k miles they still look great.

I just applied 303 high tech fabric guard to my new seats. It's supposed to be a bit better than Scotchguard.

We have always used Scotchguard on our car interiors and when there is a disaster (sick child!) the cleanup with carpet shampoo was effective. Just remember to reapply after a clean up.

Ditto! It's worked on mine for 8+ years.

Something to consider when deciding whether to use one of these products is toxicity. PTFE-based stain repellants still have perfluorooctanoic acid, but it's supposed to be neutralized by the year 2015. It's of particular concern for children. Here's a description of the health hazards.

I got mine from autogeek.com. I purchased it as I bought several supplies to start my car appearance off right.

I used regular Scotchguard on all fabric and got the carpet type for the carpets. It held up well on the last car, but we don't have kids/pets.
I didn't see the automotive type Scotchguard until after I treated car. It's less expensive; don't know if that reflects any on the protective quality.
