So I went to see the PIP today. One thing I noticed is when my are was on the armrest my elbow was right in the cup holder!!!

On my avalon the arm rest slides forward so your are is perfectly comfortable. Wondering if the leather version has a sliding arm rest so my elbow will not be right in the cup holder slot.

Yes I know it sounds silly. I know say it... I am a spoiled avalon owner...

perhaps you can buy a liftback center console and swap, it might fit, i'm not sure.

No it does not. It's one of the many crappy designs of the car (probably Prius in general). And it's not like they don't have space for it. For some reason they decided it's a good idea to put the cup holder in the easiest place for you to elbow it...

I owned a 2010 where that second cup holder was hidden inside the armrest and you had to slide it back to get to it.

I did not like it and like the new design MUCH better.

To each their own. There are those who do not like it this way and there are those who do.

exactly...this was a complaint from previous model, so they made it with cupholder exposed now.

I have to agree my elbow tends to land in it alot, I have adjust my seat back as far as possible which puts me back abit further so elbow isnt right in it.

Id like to see an optional new armrest cover that can slide. I might look into modding mine myself, i have seen others do this.

Strange... I have a rental that appears to be a 2011... and the arm rest slides... but on the 2012 it does not slide.

Yeah, didn't I say that above? Well I said it did in my 2010 but 2010/11 were the same, the 2012 is the minor refresh and that was changed.

Because it was a pain in the butt constantly opening/sliding it to get to the 2nd cup holder. As many like the new design there are as many who do not. You fall into the do not apparently lol...

Speaking of armrests - when driving I have no issues with the right side arm rest - however - the arm rest on the left side - the door side - I find awkward. My solution is that I take a 6" x 12" pillow and place it on the far left side of my lap - against the door - where the arm rest is. My arm feels GREAT - super comfortable. Then I just toss the pillow in the passenger seat when done. Always there when I get in car.

I don't have problem with the arm rest at all, since I pull my seat far back and adjust the steering wheel pull closer. I had to do this cause my legs are quite long :)
