As I stopped by the News Cafe on South Beach for coffee this morning I was pleasantly surprised to see a white Miami-Dade County Prius parked at the corner of Ocean and 8th. That prompts this question: What other governmental entities are adding the Prius to their fleets? How about yours?

    I don't know about govt...

But Ace Hardware corp HQ in illinois has one. I'm not sure what you have to be doing to get the keys to it and drive it somewhere.. I haven't been over there for a few months now, but when I was, they have one.

Given that, everyone drive your Prius's out to your local Ace store and buy some stuff.

My salesman told me that Redwood City (CA) had purchased a "bunch" of white ones.

The City of Seattle is using Prius. They are all white with the City of Seattle logo on the front doors.

The City of Santa Clara (California) has been using Prius as their government car for some time. I'm so used to the white Priuses around here that I almost ordered a different color just to "stand out". But I really like white on the Prius so I ordered it on my '06 anyway.

I think Toyota donated a few to the National Park Service out at Yellowstone National Park - great for Yellowstone; not so great for the other 387 national parks stuck with cruddy GSA rental Caravans...

There are several White Classics and Gen 2 Prii that Arlington and Fairfax County, VA own. This confused me since as far as I knew I thought gov't had to support USA built products. But hey....I'm all for the fuel effecient gov't cars.

New York City Dept. of Transportation has quite a few 2003-2005 vehicles. They are all either black or white, with little lights mounted on the roof. I see them in different neighborhoods, as some of the employees take them home, I guess.

The black ones are all UN spy Prii. Watch out! They'll come for you in a Black Prius.

Seriously though, the City of Boulder, CO has several of them. They really make a lot of sense, especially in high mileage situations.

    That's all I've seen. I can't remember if the gov't itself has a fleet.
