I'm stumped. My wife bought her Prius v Five with LED headlamps and the ATP early last month and we have yet to figure out how to turn on the DRL on. The owners manual says they should turn on and off automatically when the light switch is in the Auto position but they don't. She also has tried putting the switch in the Off position per the instructions and no joy there either. I'm getting tired of driving around in front of her while she tries to get them to work. Unless someone here can help us, we will have to ask the dealership -- something not very comforting since they don't seem to know much about these cars ... e.g. the salesman was adamant that her Prius did not have headlight washers when of course it does. I don't see anything in the customizable features list about the dealer having to activate the DRL. The owners manual points to the navigation manual that supposedly explains how to turn some features on or off but I have not been able to find anything in it about turning any of the customizable features on or off. Anybody?
Forgive me if i am wrong. I am new to this car also. I believe the auto DRLs are only available in Canada. In USA the first click of your headlight switch is the DRLs. At least that is what I told my wife
According to the first few pages of the "Operating the lights and windshield wipers" section of the Prius v owners manual, there are four different light switches used in the U.S.A. Prius v: http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/om/OM47784U/pdf/sec_02-03.pdf Our Prius v has the "type C" switch. Information for all four "U.S.A." switch types mentions DRL. My wife and I took her Prius v by the Toyota dealership late this afternoon to see if they could get the DRL working. They could not figure it out either. The dealer is supposed to get back to my wife tomorrow. There must not be many Prius v wagons around here. I don't think I've ever seen another one on the road. I drove it for about the 3rd time yesterday when I washed and fueled it. It was obvious that the drivers of "regular" Prii I saw were paying a lot of attention to it by the way they "paced" it by following in an adjoining lane without passing.
I am fairly certain as well the USA Prius v does not have DRLs. Canada yes, USA, no. The page in the link says and so on, but that doesn't say it has them.
No DRLs on a US "v" (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon). However, you can just turn the headlights on and forget them. They will take care of themselves.
How is Toyota defending against the fact that all Prius v (lowercase v for the Prius v wagon) marketing materials and owners manuals indicate DRLs are standard equipment?
I just went to the Toyota website and for the Prius v it does not list DRL's as being on the v. The Gen III Prius liftback, the Plug-in Prius and the Prius c list them under safety and convenience but the Prius v does not... As for the manual, if you're referring to the referenced page above it doesn't say it has them it jumbles parking lights, headlights, DRLs and so on into one grouping. I don't take that to mean it necessarily has em'...
Wonder why Toyota didn't put DRLs on the v (lowercase v fr the Prius v wagon, not an uppercase) wagon
