Im planning a trip this weekend and contemplating driving on t he highway The speed limit is 70 mph. If I were to stay steady at 70-75 mph what can I expect to average on my mpg? Its a roughly 100 mile drive on the interstate
If there are multiple lanes going in one direction then there is no reason you cannot drive at below the speed limit. My speed limit is 65mph and 70mph for a short stretch. I do 60mph every day and sometimes even use a big rig as a blocker so I can go slower without annoying other drivers. At 70-75mph I would say high 40s to low 50s is not unreasonable in mild weather conditions.
i got 44.5 mpg this morning going 70mph on my 13 mile treck to work..I live in windy north dakota (not too hilly). I get 50-52 mpg when I go 65 mph. I was late for work this morning and was hitting the PWR pretty hard. I always use cruise control when going a steady speed for a long distance.
Well I'd be ok with 45-52 mpg. Like I said its pretty flat straight shot across the alley. Ill hug the tight lane and stay at about 70 for an hour. Im not gonna stress over it lol. Just curious on other peoples experience.
You should verify your elevation change and possible wind conditions as well as temperature. All of these factors play a big part in fuel economy.
i was 58 mpg this morning to work for a 9.5 mile ride..and 49 on the way back...was windy and lots o traffic..
I hate wind. At least when it rains you can start the trip knowing it will be bad. Wind just kinda sneaks up on you and ruins you day.
Where abouts in North Dakota? Nice to see a fellow North Dakotan on this site. I do agree though about the wind. More often than not its windy (if not breezy) in North and South Dakota. I can't imagine that will do to well for a Prius C at least on the highway.
