Does anyone notice a digital "shadow" to the electronic speedometer display? Below is a picture of what I'm seeing. It's not a viewpoint or reflection that goes away from a different angle. It's like there is an alignment issue or something.. I know the display image is a projection from below, to create a distant focal point. But I see this image shadow. The one in my 07 Prius doesn;t do this. Click on the pic below...
I wonder if this is caused by the Touch Tracer Display that was added in 2010. It seems like the transparent layer where the touch tracer appears could cause the reflection shown in your photo.
There's actually been threads about this 9G, it's there and can't be adjusted. I attribute it to the touch tracer in the Gen III. It's worse the closer you sit and less noticeable if your tall and sit all the way back lol.
i havn't noticed it, but i see it in your pic. i look more closely tomorrow. nite or day make any diff.?
Day or Night, bright or dim it's there. I noticed if I push on the plastic lense on the face of the cluster I can get the shadow to shift. Maybe we were supposed to get 3D glasses with the PiP.
I didn't see it at first on my 2010 but if you look closely it is there. It's negligible though, to me at least.
Did you find anything about this problem? I just bought 2012 prius today and I see the exact same thing what you have in the picture. Please let me know if you got this fixed? If this is really an issue, I would take it to the Toyota dealership.
It cannot be fixed. It is a slight double image caused by the way the touch tracer is implemented within the unit.
It looks like the image is being refracted by the thickness of the plastic lens giving it a slight ghost image. Not to much could be done to correct this problem now. If Toyota put an anti reflection coating on the back of the plastic screen it would help diminish this effect.
