Plasti Dipped rims

    I went a lil crazy with the plasti dip lol

    I did my rims tonight.
    Just removed the tape/ garbage bags,
    They look good, i tried to get some pics but its dark out, i took one long exposure.
    il get some more tomorrow.

    has anyone here plastidipped rims before?
    how well does it hold up over time?
    good thing is i can remove it whenever i like.

    quick pic,
    i still havent removed the overspray off of the tires yet, as its pitch black out.

    They look good, snap a picture from the side!!! Those are the factory wheels right?

    Looks real clean Gcoop... I'm thinking of doing it also. Where did you buy the spray? Did you take each tire out and spray them or cover the brakes with a bag?

    I bought it at home depot over in niagara falls NY
    it was 6 somthing a can
    id get 2 cans for the rims, but could be done with one.
    4 or 5 coats i did, about 10 mins apart

    i went to grab another can or two here at Lowes the other day $20 a can!!!
    so, i guess il be doing some cross boarder shopping tomorrow :p

    i kept the wheels on
    took 4 garbage bags
    made a cut in them so they looked like a pair of pants
    and stuck in in the top of the rim, and pulled each " pantleg" around each side of the wheel
    used about 3 lil pieces of tape to hold it and bam.

    took me about a little over an hour total to do the rims.

    Hmmm... now y'all have me rethinking my whole "why bother" attitude (though i do kinda like the way the silver compliments the blue on mine).

    looks good!

    mine still look just as good as the day i did them , if you were worrying at all about how they hold up.
    ( or actually hold on..
    i had one problem, one day about a month ago i went out and a chunk was peeling, dont know why..
    i peeled the hanging part off, took the can of plastidip and sprayed the little dine sized section, and all looks fine :) )

    That was one part I wasn't sure about was the touch up. Thanks for the input on this. I wasn't sure if I'd have to peel the entire wheel and redo it all or not.

    I have the 15" alloys....on Magnetic Gray. I wonder if black wheels on a dark colored car would work or not. I considered PlastiDip'ing the wheels on my Volvo C70's factory 17" wheels...but never got around to it before it got traded in on the C4.

    I like both a lot, they look slick. I wish I had wheels instead of hub caps.

    Why not plasti-dip your hubcaps? Easier still.
