It needing service soon, today ironically it happened at 4500 miles on the nose! But do we know what kind of service its going to be needing? It didn't say it just says Schedule service soon or something like that. Oh for those of you who don't know if you have a sunroof and you leave it open it will tell you on the smaller display that it is open
Yes, it starts to suggest service 500 miles before it is due, then gets more insistent once it is really due. http://www.toyota.com/t3Portal/document/omms/T-MMS-12PriusC/pdf/2012_Toyota_Prius_C_WMG.pdf
It is 'on the nose' because it is triggered by an internal trip meter -- 4500 miles for the gentle warning, 5000 miles for the insistent demand. Your owners manual should have instructions for resetting the offending trip meter. While I could point to a page number for the liftback, it won't match up with your wagon.
Not necessarily. Oil changes are every 10,000 miles. Five thousand mile is just for tire rotation and fluid level checks.
Originally -- May 2009 for the Gen3 -- it was the oil change reminder, when the oil change interval was 5000 miles. Only 6-9 months later did the OCI get changed to 10,000 miles. There was no firmware update for the car to change the maintenance warning distance. The Liftback beeps once when leaving the vehicle, and again when entering. I don't know if the 'c' does the same.
If you have the smart key system and you leave the car on with the key the c will beep 3 times and if you try to lock it with the key in the vehicle or with a door open it will do a very long beep
