I am getting new wheels and transferring over tpms and rubber. The guy the shop said they could do it, but they don't have the tool required to reset the TPMS. What does this mean? Do they have to be reset if they are ones currently on the car?
If they're transferring the sensors in the wheels, then no reset is required. If you change the tire pressures, then it would be appropriate to press the TPMS reset button under the dash. The fancy tool is only required to register different tire sensors.
Are they programmed in position; driver front cant be installed in passenger rear? Or just as long as the sensor is on car, with the right pressure, the car doesn't care?
placement does not matter - you should rotate the tires every 5,000 miles and resetting the TPMS would be impractical every 5K.
Thanks for all the help. I just throw some wheels on this afternoon. MAXXIM WHEELS - MAZE 15"x6.5" offset 38mm 12.87lbs each.
Nice wheels. What do you guys do with the extra holes in the wheels?? I have Black Drag Wheels and they also have extra holes. Would be nice to cover them up somehow.
It's been 5k miles everything has been fine. I've seen pictures of them I honestly cant imagine they are difficult to swap them, but replacing them requires reprogramming and some shops carry the tool for that.
