Toyota's concerned about improperly installed mat (or the wrong mat) being in cars, causing SUA (sudden unintended acceleration). They've already had a bunch of recalls during the SUA media fiasco to retrofit CTS-made pedals, trim pedals, replace mats, etc. I think the last thing Toyota wants is more cases of SUA that can be easily prevented.
