Has anyone done it yet? I was thinking about 17 inch axis five wheels with ep422 tires. Just concerned about mpgs of course. Not sure if they would go down, as these are very light wheels. Dont want 18's, had them on my mini and was a little to rough.
I added spacers on my stock PIP wheels, looks great and maintain factory mpg. Can't be happier with the cost and result. LT26i ? 2
Yes you mpg will go down. Wheel weight plays a very small part in fuel efficiency although it does play a bigger part in stop and go driving. I would expect about 3mpg loss with that setup.
The wheels may be lighter but i think the narrowest tire they make for 17's is 215 which is wider than 195. The fact that they're also LRR will help but there still more contact patch (i.e. friction)
The correct size 17" tire for a PIP would be a 205/50/17. While this is better than a 215/45/17 you will still suffer a loss. If you don't drive many miles per year then I wouldn't worry about it.
What size are those? I've been thinking about running either a 5mm or 10mm to get rid of the tucked look after lowering
I was thinking 25mm rears and 10mm fronts to get them more flush..man i hate how sunken the rears are. the thing i dont like about the 10mm is they dont come in the version 2 which have separate lugs so you dont have to remove the stock ones. But i need to look at my stock wheel to see if there is a space for the lug to sink into on backside of wheels. do you have anymore pics more from the back to show the flush, ness? which brand did you go with? Here is the ones Ive been looking at: Prius 04+ thanks! Dan
I feel 5mm 22mm are perfect. I dont recommend any higher, in fact I would recommend 20mm for the rear. Hope this helps. LT26i ? 2
looks great! thanks! what brand did you use? do the 5mm fronts vibrate at all? Id like to keep hubcentric up front so they remain smooth not vibrating. dan
If you do get new wheels, I hope you post the old ones for sale on this forum. Many of us would like a full size, matching spare at a reasonable price.
For anyone confused by this exchange, Toyota chose to make the PiP wheel unique to the PiP. Both base and advanced models have wheels that are not available (in the USA) on other Prius models. Don't know why, it just is what it is.
You wouldn't have a pic from a little farther back? I see the difference, just hard to tell what it makes the car look like when so close. Thanks, I just might go this route and have the wheels painted gun metal grey.
