Yeah, I'm fairly sure that price is feasible (depending on your taxes). Good Luck!

You might want to consider the true cost of ownership before deciding on a fixed value which you will not go over for. MSN autos, Yahoo autos and Intellichoice/Edmunds.com have good analyses of these for each car.

MSN autos has the Prius $4k cheaper than the i sport Mazda3 over 5 years
    http://autos.msn.com/research/compare/defa...8&v=t103829

Yahoo Autos has the Prius $1k more expensive than the i sport Mazda3 over 5 years
    http://autos.yahoo.com/newcars/comparison/...re=Compare+cars

Edmunds/Intellichoice have the Prius $2k more expensive than the i sport Mazda
    http://www.edmunds.com/apps/nvc/edmunds/Ve...leId1=100777218

By the way, I believe that the invoice you are quoting is for the base price not package #2.

    Good luck in any case!

Data point for NoVa on 5/27/07:

    Base Prius + #2 + Carpet Floor Mats = 21,290 + TTLP = 22,353 OTD

I can't speak to that specific offer, but have noticed that the fine print often says the price includes a certain downpayment (say, $3-4k either in cash or trade-in).

We have had a HUGE run on Prius here in Kansas the last couple of weeks - everyone is out-of-stock. We had been looking for 2 months, but when we actually went to buy - the cupboard was bare!

So, we ended up paying 23,569 for a package 2 they 'pulled in' from another dealer (though we REALLY wanted a package 3). Price includes the $620 destination charge and $199 administrative fee (hmmm, profit?), but not our 7.3% sales tax. They did throw in carpeted mats...whopee!

We are considering adding OEM leather and are definately adding the tinted windows ($129).

Same thing here in KY! I've been looking for several weeks, researching for over a year :) and I'm finally ready to buy...just as I get ready, the market goes nuts and everybody is sold out! All of a sudden those great prices I saw just 2 weeks ago are out the window and dealers are barely budging off of msrp. I might just wait a couple of months and hope it cools down a little bit. One dealer told me that he sold more prius this may than any other month...and another told me that he won't get any more in until July! I've contacted at least 6 dealers within 2 hours of my house...I'm starting to expand the search hoping to get some luck.

BTW - this is my first post!

    Be patient. Summer is here.
Signs of gas prices already slackening prior to Fall season.
Dealers will be overstocked again by August & then you can pounce. :p

MickeyA - On the TTLP, was this mostly sales tax (ie ~ less than 5% sales tax)? Only asking as in the VA/DC area there could be a lot of variation in sales tax, and in the southeast region there can be a lot of added fees embedded in the "TTLP".

Also - who or what location was the dealer?

That is nearly exactly what I paid for our new Prius on Wednesday, small town dealer in rural Pennsylvania. It was about $22,384 or so, plus tax at 6%, and about $150 in fees for the title and whatnot. Package #2 with the carpeted floor mats and the bumper appliqué.

I feel they sorta screwed me on my trade-in, a 2005 Corolla S with 30,000 miles, only $11,500. I probably should have said no and put an ad in the paper...they'll probably wash, vacuum and sell it for $13,000...

The sales tax is 3.017% for cars in VA & That darn processing fee ($299) gets taxed also.
The registration & title came out to $80 (for 2 years).

VA has one of the lower 1/3 overall taxes in the US I believe.

    I PM you.
