Trying to find a good one since the Prius has a curved dash. Most of the ones I look at all the reviews say this one is great if you have a flat dash but won't conform to curved dashes. Does anyone have any luck with a particular one? I need to get for a good mounting option. Thanks
What are you trying to mount? GPS, Phone? Realize that in an accident, the bean bag + whatever you have attached to it becomes a flying projectile. IMO, a good quality mount like ProClip is better.
I like the idea of the ProClip. However I don't like that it either blocks part of my vent or part of my radio/dash area. I know its minimal but I have used similar items in other vehicles in the past and it bugs me. Also 2 different devices I would like to mount at different times, both different sizes. AND one being GPS that has to use its own mount (which I find really dumb but its the only way to charge the unit) If ProClip was just an option that added a smooth surface for my to suction things to I think it would be a great option for me, unfortunately its doesn't seem to fit what I need.
For GPS, depending on the brand, you can get suction mounts for the windshield. GPS suction mount | eBay Garmin GPS units come with an adhesive disc that you can stick on the dash that will create a flat surface that you can mount the suction mount on. The Prius has a large windshield, usually the lower left hand corner is available for the GPS and it wont obstruct too much of your view when mounted in that position.
It is not a bean bag mount, but I have a Handstands sticky pad dash mount which is along the same lines as a bean bag mount. It peels on and off like a post it note and the base conforms to the dash very nicely and I think it looks quite nice. I have used in in both a gen 2 and gen 3 Prius and have had mine for a couple of years now.
With the Handstands stick dash mount do you ever have a problem with it tipping forward? It seems like the weight would cause it to tip forward. Any issues?
I bought the Arkon from Amazon and have it sitting behind the steering wheel, it comes with a small stick on hook attachment to prevent it from flying towards the driver. The position works really well for me, it's kind of like where you would expect the speedometer cluster to be on most cars. It sits at least 85% flat on the dash which provides enough friction to keep my iphone in place. Amazon.com: Arkon CM012 Friction Dash Mount (Compatible with All GPS Devices): GPS & Navigation
