On the short list of things America needs to change is tort laws. Most countries do not tolerate frivolous lawsuits like we do. Can't support it with a link, but someone estimated a dime on every dollar spent is legal expenses - people like the woman in this thread suing for $1.7B. Lawsuits are often a last resort to make things right, but nowhere is it abuse like in the US. What needs to happen is sue this woman, make an example of her, prosecute others that do this....the infamous realitor Jim Sikes with unintended Prius acceleration also comes to mind. After awhile, it will be obvious lawsuits are not longer a money grab for the dishonest.
