Does anyone know whether the 2012 center armrest fits in the 2011 prius? If so, can I just buy the flip-up part? Or would I have to replace the entire assembly? Or something in between? Best regards, mega
Yeah, you are right. I found two good images for comparison in this thread: For Sale - Toyota Prius 2010+ - Brand New Clazzio Full PVC Seat Covers Black | PriusChat I guess I was hoping that whole top part would just come off and fit into place, but that doesn't seem the case. I agree with several other postings, the 2010-2011 is an unbelievably impractical design. There are two problems. With armrest in the "open/cupholder position" and a kid in the back center, I always end up with footprints on my armrest. If you are using the charger or aux input, you can't close the console unless your device remains in the console. There is literally no crack or hole for routing the cable through, once the lid is closed. To solve #1, it sounds like I have to follow this example: I wasn't able to find any aftermarket armrests that resemble the 2012, but I'd definitely like to find one to solve #2 and just the general problem of having more exposed cupholders to put my cups and phone in.
I also found this guy asking about it here, but no response: <a href="Center Armrest Too Low for Comfortable Driving. Any Solutions? | PriusChat">Center Armrest Too Low for Comfortable Driving. Any Solutions?</a>
I'm in the process of modify a 2011 to a 2012 armrest and cupholder. The cost from the dealer to replace the whole center unit is $600. The cupholder alone is $120 and you need to cut/dremel some parts. You leave it engaged mid way back and cut off the excess that hangs over. I have a katzkin cover to go ontop of the newly cut top so Im hoping for the best. Will post a thread when done. E
