I AM IN MIAMI BEACH FLORIDA PLANING TO SEND MY 2005 PRIUS TO MY SON HE IS IN LOS ANGELES CALIFORNIA WELLCOME ADVICE HOW TO DO IT
you can try Auto Transport | Auto Transport Company | Auto Transport Quotes Or Google "auto transport"
I've used Franks Automobile Shipping & Transport (Auto | Car | Motorcycle | Fork Lifts | Big Rig | Transporting | Shipping | Hauling) in the past to transport a couple cars cross-country, and have been quite pleased with their service. They're also quite price-competitive... they beat every quote I got from other shippers by a couple hundred dollars. If you want to do some shopping around without doing much work, go to uship.com. It's sort of a reverse eBay for shipping: you put your job up as a listing, and shippers will compete to give you the best quote. Others, telling folks to use Google isn't very helpful. It's like handing a phone book to someone and saying "yeah, your answer's somewhere in there...."
Try "uship.com". You'll likely get several bids and you can make a decision based on price, or shipper feedback ratings, or whatever. Worked well for me in moving boats. Good luck
Find a family member or trusted friend with a good driving record who needs an excuse to go to LA... If you're lucky it may not cost 'ya hardly anything... Everyone loves to travel!!! Give someone who's a hard worker who deserves a vacation the gift of a free road trip in a Prius! LOL! Hilarious! A train is pretty much the only form of transport that pound for pound gets way better gas mileage than a Prius! Of course at $1350 to ship you could save $1,100 of that just by offering to pay the gas of someone who needs a ride to LA. Just did the math and a Prius from where you are all the way to LA at 50mpg is gonna only take 55 gallons of gas...
Are they actually doing it by rail? Is that place actually legit? I looked into shipping a car by rail before. From I thread I posted at TivoCommunity, here are some relevant portions of posts. (from me) (reply from someone else) (from me) Recommend me a good car shipping company... | PriusChat might help. FWIW, I was at Pebble Beach Concours d'Elegance : Welcome for some test drives and near the auction area (w/some really exotic cars) and I saw a TON trucks parked nearby from Intercity Lines, Inc. and Reliable Carriers - Enclosed Car Transportation, Auction Transport, Collector Car Transport and Race Car Transport. I doubt they're cheap.
Call the number 866-470-0036 and see if it is legit. It was one of many resources listed in the original google link I posted. I simply posted the information trying to help the OP. Ron
How about you pay my trip and i go there and drive it back. And give me like 500 spending cash . Wouldnt be the first time i do this but would be the longest trip.
Now You're talking... Maybe we could hook you up with a mobile data plan and you can live stream your CAN data and hypermile thoughts and we can all post comments... Maybe even tell you to slow down too much?
Why not ask your son to take a vacation in FL, then go back with such a great gift, plus $1000 pocket money?
Yea it really seems just plain wrong to take the most fuel efficient car ever and spend five times the cost to ship it across the country via less efficient means... I mean a Prius is meant to be driven and it only costs $230 in gas to drive from Florida to LA... That's just too much awesome not to take full advantage of!!!
In some week I'll also need to have m car shipped from Florida to California, so many companies have been mentioned here, its quite hard to choose. But can anyone tell which would be cheaper?
