I am RonKo, a Prius V2 new owner. I bike more than I drive, so my Prius is a week old, and my bike may have more miles on it this week than the Prius. I don't do these type of chats much, so a newbie squared. I am a bit nervous about all the new tech in the Prius V. My former cars were 2005 Honda's. I've been studying the owners manual to gain confidence. But one thing I can't figure out is what is the "card holder"? It's a slot just under the driver side vent. Looks like it could hold a credit card or toll booth card. I asked the same question at some other more general point on this site, and didn't even notice the newbie category where I belong.

Thanks to those who answered. Leave it to me to over analyze the mundane. I am certain I will have more questions as I get the courage to drive this thing. The sales man said it almost doesn't matter what the mode is set, the car is smart enough to interpret what mode it should be in via the gas pedal. Agreed? ECO vs Power etc. From what I am reading in this site, people switch when needing acceleration for merging and passing. What about carrying bikes? I just bought a hitch to mount a rack on. All opinions are information to me. Another thought, I am used to carrying jumper cables in my cars....can/should one jump a Prius? or should one be the good neighbor and jump start a stranded driver w/you Prius?
Jump starting a Prius wrong is one of the most expensive repairs one can cause voluntarily. ($4000?) Be very ready to get a new 12 v battery once it gets weak. Do not still have your Prius attached when starting another car. (Use it as a charger, not a starter)
Your neighbours will think you're being mean but DON'T ever offer to jump their dead car with your Prius or as Jimbo said about, you'll end up with a dead car yourself. The Prius doesn't need a powerful 12v battery as it doesn't crank an engine like in a traditional car. All the 12v in a Prius needs to do is boot up the computers which then start the car via the HV battery. Try jumping their car with your teeny tiny 12v and you have a good idea what'll happen. I guess it would be similar to jumping a truck off a motorbike.It'll never happen and you'll end up needing a new 12v if you're lucky. If the 12v in the Prius is flat, then yes you can get a jump start off someone BUT you MUST follow the instructions in the handbook carefully! Failure to follow these could very easily fry the Prius computers which is an expensive repair.
