I just got word from my dealer this morning that I am getting a PHV Prius... So who else in Canada pre-ordered? Honestly I don't want to buy it in late-November/early-December but that's the way the cookie crumbles. Partly because my fuel economy will be lower than ideal from day one, and partly because it's a 2012 model so it'll be "old" / last year's model very quickly
I pre-ordered too. I was not sure if it was the best move for the same reason (Could have waited for an early 2013 model instead for a better resale value) but I espect to keep this car long enough so it will not make much of a difference in the end. So I am waiting for the PiP. November / december is a bit latter than I espected but I'm ready to wait if that's what it takes to get one. And for the "because fuel economy will be lower" point, it does not matter to me. The PiP will surely be better than my Civic Hybrid anyway. I espect the EV-boost mode to give us a very good fuel economy even when the ICE is running for heat in canadian winter. We'll see.
